| Dear Friends of Riverland: Born into a sporting family in South Carolina, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to pursue my heart's desire in the woods and on the water. As a child I grew up on the heels of men and women who were as passionate about the outdoors as I am, and who truly loved and understood the precious habitat and history of this state. In my adult life, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to travel extensively from the Northern reaches of Alaska, to the Southern expanses of South America and beyond. I've seen many oceans and a lot of country in between, but I am still under the biased impression that for those who love the outdoors, there is no place in the world more diverse in habitat and opportunity to experience the natural world than right here in South Carolina. Regardless if you are a fisherman, naturalist, hunter, canoe or kayak enthusiast, or simply one who desires to find some undisturbed niche where you can relax with the undiluted sounds of nature around you, there is something in South Carolina that will fulfill that need. Over the last two and a half decades, I have again been fortunate to have the opportunity to be a conduit for peoples' love of the outdoors. I take great pride in being able to use my knowledge and experience to introduce outdoorsmen and women to the natural beauty of this state. By sharing my own love for its habitat and history, I hope to guide you to that sense of fulfillment that only nature can provide. If I had only one mission statement in my life, it would be to help join us once again...mankind and the physical world, in that fulfilling union of earth and soul. A sense of community with nature and this earth is the birth right of us all, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to help provide a way to reestablish our relationship with it. This is the reason I began Riverland Guide Service and I hope that in years to come its measure of success will be in the smiles, laughter and wonderful memories it has provided to all that join us on our outings along these quiet waters. I look forward to seeing you around the Riverland Camp fire very soon. Yours in South Carolina, Hunter Smith Founder Riverland Guide Service |
